Nibbled by a snail

Went out in the field with students today. We're surveying habitats for land snails and we happened to find a location with lots of large Neohelix albolabris. I picked one up and it started rasping my fingertip with its radula. So that's what it's like to be nibbled by a snail...

Em2 Hacking for Life

Experimentation continues here in the dirt lab. Today I bashed together a cordless drill, 2x4's and a few other bits to create a prototype sediment supply system for the Em2 stream table. Currently it dumps about 27g of sediment per minute, which is a little on the high end of useful.
